Farnborough community radio evolved from Farnborough football club radio which launched in November 2022. The station was backed by the football club and was broadcast through a page on the clubs website 24 hours a day with the main feature being Matchday Live which provided full game commentaries of Farnborough’s (mostly home) matches. With interviews of current and past players as part of the half time entertainment. The matches were recorded and replayed in full during the day. Ben Shoveller provided commentary and comedian Andy Smart, one of the Comedy Store Players and Farnborough fan for 50 years was the summeriser. During April 2022 discussions took place between Farnborough Football Club, its community Trust and local audio production company, Bunjy Productions, where it was decided the Community Trust would take the radio station under its umbrella where it would be relaunched as Farnborough Community Radio, a music radio station playing the best of the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s, serving Farnborough and the surrounding areas by providing details of community events and groups while maintaining the strong links with the Football Club by continuing with the live commentaries and exclusive club news. Farnborough Community Radio launched in September 2023. FCR is a not for profit joint venture between Farnborough Football Club Community Trust & Bunjy Productions, all profits are recycled back into the radio staton or the Farnborough Football Club Community Trust.
